Pauls Raised Vegetable Bed

This is the first of hopefully four raised vegetable plots. I have worked out I can easily build another two, next to this in the back yard but of a longer length, say 4.5M long by 1.5M wide. These two will get even more winter sun. All will probably require a shade cloth covering in summer. I can build a fourth bed, 4.5M by 1.5m wide at the side of the house.

Seed Germination

Raising your own vegetables from heirloom seed is easy, it really is!Why?* You can save money * You can grow what you want and when you want them * You can use traditional, open pollinated organic seeds* You can save seeds to plant the next generation Heirloom seeds will generally grow 'true to type', save the seeds and you can grow similar plants.

Pauls Raised vegetable Bed

This is my first of hopefully three to four raised vegetable plots.Raised beds can increase soil temperature compared to below ground beds. (This has been verified by various folks in more colder climates than Australia, who have shown snow to melt much quicker around raised beds than the surrounding areas) Concrete 'Besser Blocks' were chosen as they will hopefully be permanent.
